This is ordination procedure for Buddhist nuns (mae chees) under the Theravaradian tradition.
Photo below is taken from Year End Temporary Ordination held in December 2016.
Prior to ordination, the person who is planning to ordain as a nun may seek forgiveness from her parents/guardians. She may bow at her parents’ feet 3 times and to seek forgiveness. The parents would gesture the forgiveness by touching her head.
NUN (MAE CHEE) ORDINATION
Luang Phor Soh Phon from Wat Dhammachedi Sriphiphat, Samut Sakhon together with other monks performed the novice ordination.
A tray of offerings would be respectedfully offered to the Upajjhāya (Preceptor) while prostrating themselves 3 times before the Upajjhaya. The participants would then seek for the going forth as mae chees ordination (view ordination scripting for mae chees)
After that, it would be followed by the request for go for refuge in the Triple Gem.
Holding the ceremonial fan, Luang Phor would recite the passages of taking refuge in the Triple Gem in which the participants would follow after Luang Phor. Now the Ācariya tells the applicant that the ordination as a mae chi is completed. Since she is now a mae chi she has to study and practice the Eight Precepts for Mae Chi. She should chant them after the Ācariya, clause by clause.
