Venue:
Samathidhammaram Centre, 114, Moo 5, Ban Rangsaiboowa, Tambon Klongtan, Amphor Ban Phaeo, Samut Sakhon, 74120 Thailand (Address (in Thai): บ้านปฏิบัติธรรมสมาธิธรรมาราม , 114 หมู่ 5 ต.คลองตัน อ.บ้านแพ้ว จ.สมุทรสาคร ).
Duration: 30 May 2015- 12 June 2015
We would like to invite those who have faith to join us in the upcoming short term monk/novice/ nun ordination and observation of ubasaka & ubasika (8 precepts) for both male and female adult and children.
Through sincere practice, enormous merits are acquired. Nothing equals to self-practice. Let us share these merits with gratitude to the Buddha, Dhamma and Sangha, our parents, ancestors and kammic debtors. Being reborn life after life, we may not be aware of the past actions we have done in the past. We aspire to transfer our merits through this practice to our kammic debtors (beings whom we have wronged in the past). May they rejoice in the merits and forgive us.
May the merits we shall acquire bring happiness and comfort. May all beings be well and happy.
Sadhu! Sadhu! Sadhu!

Introduction
You may either do the observation of eight precepts or go for short term ordination as a novice or nun at your wish. For those who wish to go through short term ordination, advanced notification is greatly appreciated as robes and other requisites need to be arranged (we need to obtain your personal particulars, as well as your height for the robe arrangement).
Do read the copy of the 10 rules and 75 Monastic Code of Conduct for Novices 十戒– it serves as a guide- however novices is to observe 10 precepts. If we wish to do good and practice Buddhism, we should do it properly and well. (ควๅมเคร่งดในทางพระศาสนาต้องปฏิบัติตามพระธรรนัย)
Going through Short Term Ordination / Observation of Eight Precepts
Going through short term ordination / Observation of eight precepts is seen as virtuous.

The purpose of ordination/ observation of eight precepts so that the merits earned can be shared with your parents.
Notifying parents of intention to ordain/ observe 8 precepts
Prior than going to undergo short term ordination/ 8 precepts, do inform your parents that you would like to undergo short term ordination as a gesture of gratitude. Let them know so that they are able to rejoice in your effort.
If your parents have passed on, simply hold up the joss stick, face the east and inform your parents of your intention to pursue ordination/ 8 precepts.
What You Need to Bring
As we would be walking along the earth- bring along or wear a pair of comfortable slippers. Sport/ office wrapped shoes are not suited to be worn. You may bring along socks of neutral colours. In June, the weather in Bangkok is generally hot.
How much does does this program cost?
This question is often asked to us and we would like to offer clarification.
All along Khun Mae would always want to give opportunity for people to practice.
There is no fixed fee for joining or participating in the ordination events.
However, since each event would also utilize very large amount of funds (ordination requisities, food, electricity, water, cost of helpers, rentals of tents tables, chair,
transportation costs in transporting participants throughout the event, etc), there are 2 costs below directly related to the participants:
a. Transportation to and fro between airport and temple
The temple is located in Ban Phaeo, a small place in Samut Sakhon province about 2 to 3hours drive from airport (depending on the traffic).
There is no direct bus or train to the temple. Transportation would need to be arranged upon participants confirming flight details.
If the arrival group is large, we would generally need to hire a van driver to take you from the airport to the temple.
If lesser people arriving at a certain timing, then a car would be arranged. Appreciate if you would help us cover the cost of the van/driver and if it is a car, the petrol cost.
Van cost (depending on timing as after 6pm the rate is different) would generally come up to between 2500 baht to not more than 4000 baht (RM250- RM400) >>>example if there are 8 people in the van and cost is 2500 baht, each to contribute 312.50 baht (about RM30 plus).
For car, petrol (as car need to go from temple to airport, then parking to wait for participants, then back to airport with toll charges)…. comes up to almost 1000 baht (about RM100) per car.
This is the same for arrangements (either via car or van) to send participants back from the temple to the airport.
b. 8 preceptor attire
As 8 preceptor clothings is required ((view sample for male/ female) ….even for those who intend to ordain as monk/novice as they are required to be attired in 8 preceptor clothings prior to ordination. If you have the 8 preceptor clothings- please bring along. For those who do not have- you may purchase the clothings from the temple (150 baht per each item: top, trousers, robe). Usually each person would require very minimal 2 sets of 8 preceptor clothings (2 top and 2 pants) with one 8 preceptor robe. Please let us know in advance as well of the size required.
As for the rest, including food and lodging, there is no fixed fees to join the program. However, there may be certain expenses which is optional-
example you may want to purchase some food to offer during almsround- it would be at own cost, or share in transportation costs (during the event), etc. It is totally entirely up to the participant (随緣).
For those with financial difficulties, please do not worry as Khun Mae can cover the cost. Most important is one’s sincerity in practice.
It is possible for us to hold the event each time through the kind generosity of donors, some who due to their hectic schedule may have no time to attend the event itself. Throughout we need to recall the kind deeds of the donors, practice sincerely and share our merits
with them.
